I just recently decided to check up on the JA communities and found a few I was interested in. The thought never occured to me before, but I've been a JA fan since I was a little girl, odd enough for my generation (half of my friends don't even know who she is!) Either way, I grew up listening to JA songs, watching her movies and just absolutely falling in love with her.
I started surfing the net more and found out she had a show the Julie Andrews Hour, unfortunately the only thing I could find are small clips of her skits on the show, with guests such as Dick Van Dyke and Robert Goulet. If anyone has seen these clips, you know what I'm talking about, they are priceless!
I stumbled upon a petition to make the show's season into a DVD box set. I truly think it would be amazing if this were to happen, considering they have the technology for people to get the clips onto the internet, why not preserve it and be able to in case it into something that can be kept for generations to come.
Either way.. here's the link to the petition, if you've already seen and/or signed it, awesome! :) I just figured I'd help it go a little further.. It's ironic cause as soon as I found out about JAH I was like, why isn't there a DVD?
Julie Andrews made a bid to change her squeaky clean image with this elaborately mounted World War I musical. Lili Smith (Andrews) is a popular British music hall singer who is regarded as a femme fatale and has been known to throw a bit of striptease into her act. However, Lili has a secret: she's actually a German spy, and the uncle she dotes upon is really Von Ruger (Jeremy Kemp), a fellow espionage agent and her contact for the Huns. In hopes of gaining valuable information, Lili begins using her feminine wiles on Maj. William Larrabee (Rock Hudson), a top American pilot. However, Lili soon discovers that she's falling in love with Larrabee and can't find the courage to betray him; Larrabee discovers Lili's secret, but he refuses to turn her in. Darling Lili was a notorious box-office disappointment, grossing a mere $5 million on a budget that rose to $25 million due to a variety of production mishaps. Director Blake Edwards (Andrews' husband) was stung by the poor reception, and he later trimmed the 136-minute film to 114 minutes, downplaying its comic elements in favor of a more serious tone. ~ Mark Deming, All Movie Guide
Has anyone seen this movie and what do you think of it?
Hello! I was wondering if anyone had pictures of Julie in her 'Sound of Music' Days. What I'm looking for is that adorable cute, short haircut she used to have that was kindof sortof twiggy-ish. I can't get a good picture of her hair though. Thankyou!!! :)
